Behind the Dance

At the core of The Yard’s mission is a commitment to supporting artists through residency opportunities. Ever wondered what happens in a Yard residency? Take a look inside through our new series, ‘Behind the Dance’, which we will roll out over the coming months.

Residencies at The Yard provide artists with time, space, financial support, and collaborators to develop new and in process work. The COVID-19 pandemic served as a critical period to re-examine and redefine how artists are supported through our residencies.  We closely co-designed this year’s residencies with each artist, and the result was no one residency looked like another. While program format has changed over the years, one thing remains true -- deep creation and crucial artmaking happens at The Yard. Learn more about our residency program here.

These videos offer a closer look into The Yard’s programs, allowing you to go behind the dance and experience the power of creativity for yourself.
